Never Tried Skiing or Snowboarding? Skiing or Snowboarding for the First Time?
Welcome! You are about to begin a wonderful journey whether you are skiing or snowboarding. Here are some frequently asked questions.

Where do I start? Carefully read the description of our programs, and figure out what you want to do. If you are taking ski/board lessons, you need to arrive at least an hour prior to the desired lesson time. Group lessons do not require reservations; private lessons and the Ski Wee program require reservations.

What should I wear? Dress warmly, preferably in waterproof pants and jacket, with gloves or mittens, a hat, and neck warmer. Remember that you will be outside for extended periods of time! One thin good pair of wool socks is better than multiple pairs of cotton socks. It is helpful to layer other clothes with clothing made of materials that wick moisture away from the body. Jeans and cotton fabrics are not recommended.

Does the mountain rent clothing and equipment? You can rent ski/board equipment from us with everything included that you need, but we do not rent clothing.

May I use equipment I have borrowed? Yes, you may; however, be sure to have the equipment checked out by a ski shop technician before your visit to The Hidden Valley Club. The equipment needs to be properly fitted or it may be unsafe.Where do I go when I arrive at the mountain? All skiers and boarders must purchase lift tickets at the lowest level of the main lodge. This is also where you will purchase rentals (if necessary) and check in for any programs. From here you will be directed to your next stop.

Do you make snow? Yes, we do-when it's cold enough! Our snowmakers are good, but even they can't replace Old Man Winter if it's 50 degrees outside.

Do you have babysitting? No, we do not.

How old is too old, and how young is too young? Skiing & boarding are wonderful sports that may challenge muscles you're not accustomed to using; however, all that is really required to learn is a good attitude. We do not give lessons to children under the age of 6, unless they are in the Ski Wee program, nor do we recommend privates for children under the age of four or five. Typically, they are not mature enough either physically or emotionally for the demands of skiing and boarding.

Why do I need a lift ticket if I never even use the lift? A lift ticket is an area pass; it entitles you to use our facilities, including the snow. Anyone on the snow is required to display a lift ticket (or season pass). When children go onto the snow for lessons, parents are asked to watch their kids from the lodge so the class is not distracted.
May I bring a sled or toboggan? Sorry, you may not. Only ski/board equipment is allowed on the snow.

Anything else? Listen closely to your instructor. He or she will have lots of valuable info. Ask questions if you do not understand something. Read the signs on the mountain. Drink water-it's important to stay hydrated. Take a break if you feel fatigued. Most important: relax and have fun!
